Victoria Beckham’s Mother Reveals Why She Was Against Her Daughter Marrying David at First

Before Victoria and David Beckham became one of the most iconic celebrity couples in the world, there was one important person who wasn’t sure about their future together — Victoria’s mother, Jackie Adams.
In a recent resurfaced interview, Jackie shared that she initially had doubts about David Beckham when he first began dating her daughter in the late 1990s.
“At the time, I wasn’t convinced,” she admitted. “He was a young footballer, extremely famous already, and I worried about the pressure, the media, and whether he was ready for something serious.”
According to Jackie, it wasn’t that she disliked David — but rather, she wanted to make sure her daughter wasn’t being swept up in a whirlwind romance.
But over time, her perspective shifted.
“David proved himself. He was respectful, kind, and clearly loved Victoria deeply. That’s what changed everything for me,” she added.
Now, decades later, with four children and over 20 years of marriage behind them, Jackie says she couldn’t imagine anyone more perfect for her daughter.
“They’ve built something real and lasting — and I’m proud of them both.”
Fans have praised Jackie’s honesty and admired how the Beckham relationship has stood the test of time.
